What is the white pad with the funny smell that came in my Taylor K-1000 test kit?

I am assuming it was meant to absorb any chemical leakage during shipping. I don't know if should throw it away or not.

It is designed to absorb excess moisture and to keep the parts form rattling around inside the case. You can get rid of it if you want.

I used it for a while to supply the white background as I was observing the test colors. After a short while, I found out I preferred just a blue sky background.

Yeah, I agree, blue sky seems to help me with colors as well.

BTW: Off topic so forgive me, but I love my TF-100 and magnetic stirrer. Thanks for providing such a great product!
