Cleaning leads to salt cell

Hello all, I have an Ecomatic ESC36 salt generator and my gas sensor is going off. There is no air in the cell when it runs. I read a past post about this same issue and it was resolved by cleaning the leads. It would be helpfull if someone could give me a better discription on how to do this? I was going to buy another power pack, but i'd like to try this first.
