Pump has 1.5" fittings/hose, skimmer/return are 1" -PROBLEM?

Greetings,

My Eco-Kleer 1.5 hp pump has 1.5" fittings and hose, but I notice that my skimmer basket and return have 1" openings (and have a stepped fitting to accept the 1.5" flex hose).

Would it be a good idea to change the skimmer and return to 1.5" models to get better flow thru my filtering system?

I have a Eco-Kleer 200 media filter.

You could cut the step part of the fitting off (or use a hole saw to cut it out) if the hose will slip on the larger part, but in all reality you probably won't notice much difference unless it's a large restriction. I'd do it just because, but everyone's not as adventurous as I am.

Thought about that, but the holes are 1" all the way through!

Sounds like you'll have to replace them then if you want better flow.
