Pool Opening - CYA Question

I plan to put CYA in a sock this evening and imagine it will be gone from the sock by tomorrow sometime with a little coaxing. Can I go ahead and start shocking my green pool this weekend...or will I backwash out too much of the CYA by starting this weekend? I was really hoping to get started. When I put the sock in front of my return it does a great job of dissolving the powder...I'm just not sure if it dissolves enough in the pool to start shocking and backwashing two days later?

Before you add CYA, I would test your water and post the results. It is much harder to remove CYA than add it!

If the sock is hung so it is caught up in the return jet most of the time it will dissolve quickly enough that you can start pretending it has all dissolved in 24 hours. It won't all have completely dissolved by then, but enough of it will have that you can treat it as if it had.
