Central Texas
Good Morning. We finally made the decision to put a pool in. We interviewed several pool builders and signed the contract at the end of February. The pool specs are as follows: Pool 20' X 36', 7' Round Spa, Pool depth 3' to 6', Paramount Pv-3 Infloor System, Oklahoma Flagstone Coping, Blue Glass tile at waterline, Pebble Brite Plaster, 2HP Tristar 2 Speed Pump, 1 1/2 HP Booster Pump, 3 Color Logic LED Lights (2 pool and 1 spa), Hayward 550 Cartridge Filter and Hayward 400k heater.

After several weeks of permit issues, we were ready to start excavation. Although we were ready, mother nature was not and dumped a ton of rain on us. We finally broke ground on March 15 but the excavators could only work for about 20 minutes because the ground was too wet. Lucky for us it did not rain that weekend and the excavators came back on the 19th and work for the whole day. Unfortunately, that night Mother Nature dumped about 2.5 inches of rain on us and completely filled the "pool".

The "pool" had to be drained and the ground, which is mostly clay, had to dry out again. The excavators are scheduled to come out on Monday and hopefully finish the excavation portion of the build.

This excavation feels like it is taking forever. Silly me, I thought this would be the easy part.

Well we have finally gotten a break with the weather (and our excavator) and have made some good progress. We have the excavation completed, the infloor floor cleaner, steel and plumbing. Now we are just waiting on gunite on Tuesday.

The end is near... or at least that is what I keep telling myself  We have the gunite in and the form removed. There will not be a lot of action this week except watering the pool. Next week will be tile and coping (hopefully). Here are a copy of pictures of the pool with gunite. Enjoy

Looks great, where in central texas are you located? Austin? We had similar delays due to the rain in march. We finally told them to at least make the pool swimmable. We were in a gunite state for almost a month. From the time I pressured them to get the actual pool done (vs decking/patio cover) to swimming was only like 5 days.

From where you are at it is basically

1) plumbing - 1 day
2) equipment set - half day
3) plaster - half day
4) fill 24 hours

A lot of it was just calling my guys every day and asking for dates. They missed most by a day or two, but they really stepped it up when I called every single day. We have been enjoying swimming in our construction zone, but filled up pool :)

Now Im putting pressure on them to finish the paver decking and patio cover.
