How long do you run your pump?

I live in Georgia and have a SWG in a 35k gal gunite pool with a 2 HP pump/sand filter. I am wanting to maximize electricity efficiency without sacrificing a clean pool. How long should I run my pump? Should I just keep cutting back the time until my chlorine levels start to drop in order to determine it?

I'd start by cutting back pump run time and increasing cell setting until you either can't maintain chlorine at 100% or you aren't keeping the water clean. Run the pump whenever the pool is in use too.

Best run time may vary through the season, so it may not be a set it and forget it deal.

Have you considered a variable speed pump to allow long run times at lower electrical usage? Depending on your rates, it may be a good investment.
