Help! When to replace Cartridges on Pentair CCP 520?

Pool is new to me since October. The pressure was about 30 psi or about 10 above when I purchased. So I thought I would attempt to clean them. Some of the horizontal straps are broke in places. The cartridges are very very dirty and even have little plants sprouting.

Is it time to replace or just continue to clean?

I would recommend getting a new set, and alternating between sets. This will allow you to remove a dirty set and clean them properly. Compare the pressure between sets. If the old set creates too much pressure, even after a good cleaning, then dispose of them.

Once the straps break, time for a new one.

Looks like I will get a new set ordered. I cleaned them the best I could. The pressure dropped from 30 to 18.

The process was not as bad as I thought to open the filter.

When it came time to replace mine, I went ahead and got two sets. That way, when it came time to clean, I could do so at my leisure since I was able to just pull the dirtys out and immediately put clean ones in. I worked out great since I was able to soak the dirties for a couple of days in TSP before cleaning and the job was much easier overall.
