New Pool in NC...

Wow... looking back at this thread because the 70 degree weather the last two days have really made me want to swim! I also realized that I never posted pics after the wall. I laid the all block all the way around the pool, about 2' off the fence. It looks great! I then placed white rock between the deck and the fence, and the fence and the wall. I did not get all the rock done before I needed to sew grass, so I still have a few loads left to put down. I will get some recent pics up in the next few days!

Man I want to swim!!!!

Great pool! We're doing a very similar install, rectangular pool away from the house. Could you post some more photos of the deck, fence and any landscaping you did around the pool? I want to do some lighting in the corners like you did too. I was thinking of putting tall fence posts in the corners, but I do like the lamp post idea of yours.

Thanks!

Sorry for the delay massnerd.... See the pics below. We are not quite done. We plan to do a "brick chip garden" on the front side (where the gate is) that will stretch the entire length of the fence and will have some rounding of the edges to go around both Penn Oak trees. I hope to have that done this week. Once it is finished I will post some more pics. I did the fence, rock, and block, but did pay a friend of mine for the concrete work. I also hired out the electrical. A few weeks ago we finally wired the stereo system, and I love it. We can have the volume low enough to talk but still hear it all over the pool deck. We can also crank it up and hear it if we are out in the ward working.

Let me know if you want to see anything closer. I check the site daily, but it took me a few days to get out to snap some pics.

It has been enough for us so far, but if I had to do it over again, I would have went bigger on the end where the steps are located. If we ever do much entertaining, it may get a bit crowded.

The lounge chairs take up quite a bit of room.

We do plan to add on later this year or early next year with a cabana (or gazebo or whatever, and will most likely remove part of the fence and go a little larger. Obviously we will be pouring a pad for the cabana, so it will be a good time to add on.

Thanks

I'm back... This time we are planning on a cabana or pool house. We are currently in the final planning stages. We are looking at two options.

1. 16x20 cabana with a 16x8 "house" on the back side.

2. 16x20 cabana that is completely open

Either will be all brick (columns, walls, gables, etc) and will have cathedral type interior ceilings.

We are hoping to finalize our decision this week and get started in the next 2-3 weeks. I will be sure to update the thread once we get started.

Well.... Construction started on Monday. I took down the part of the fence that needed to be removed, and the crew went to work. They dug the footing (by hand). On Tuesday, they laid the rebar for the footing and the six brick columns. Also on Tuesday, the inspector came and signed off on the footing prep. Later that day, the concrete footing was poured. Today, the brick perimeter for the concrete pad was laid, along with a few other items in preparation for the pad.

More updates to come...

As an aside, the same guys (friends of mine), added a brick landscaping wall for me last week on the back of the house for our "brick chip bed". We have had the bed for several years, but separated with landscape timbers. The bricks really add to the look of it, and will really look good when I finish putting down new brick chips.

The start of the fresh brick chips on top of a double layer of commercial weed blocking fabric...

More progress today. The roof trusses are in place, and the roof will be finished tomorrow. Then the vinyl soffits and cathedral ceilings will be done, followed by the brick gables. If weather permits, it might be done by Friday, and then I will have to finish the fence and add some more landscaping.
