triton minimax pool heater flow valve

I need help repairing a flow valve for a Purex Triton Minimax 400 pool heater. I removed it and founf some broken plastic pieces in the assembly and one of the metal bars were bent. i took it apart, pounded the bar straight and rebuilt the assembly. i know i have all the pieces in the correct place but at the top of the assmebly there is a plate that holds what looks like the tip of a spark plug. the tip of this contacts another plate below it. but the scres that hold the top plate in place are adjustable and i do not remember is they were screwed all the way down or towards the tip about 3/4 inch difference. any suggestions. The pool heater is about 14 years old

It is the same as a Pentair. That was when they were purchased. The Pentair manual will be the same.

I have the same heater and currently troubleshooting the flow valve. The nuts that screw down the top plate are screwed down as far as they can go leaving about 1/4" threads showing.
