I am not getting notified of new messages or replies

When I post in forums, I have not been getting notified of new messages or replies. Well, maybe for 5-10 posts, I have received 2 notifications. I checked all the spam folders both on my computer and at my provider and there is nothing there either. I have the setting in my account set properly, I think. I have even tried manually clicking the link to "watch" a forum and still no joy.
