I have a Hayward natural gas heater. It has been use lightly, maybe 5-6 hours total. It just started acting up last spring. Would turn it on and it would be fine then later I would notice that it had a CE code. Sometimes the code would go away and it would fine. Sometimes from the code the display will just go blank. We turned the heater on each day, but mainly to see what the water temperature was. My husband took the cover off to check the two main boards. The picture below shows an area that appears to be fried. (center bottom of board) Is it safe to assume that this is the board that needs replaced? Does anyone know of a place to get just the R15 part? Last summer I check around for a new boards and they were running around $200 each and I'm trying to save a few dollars if possible.
