Hello all,
Looking for your comments.
I currently have a single speed 3/4 hp 115v motor. Looking at swapping in a dual speed 3/4 hp 115v motor.

Looks like the payback period will be about 15 months. ($20 month savings). I don't have any water features.
Currently my pump is putting out about 50gpm.

My turnover time is about 6 hours. I'm looking at running at low speed for 12 hours. It looks like it would be a monthly savings of about $20.

The new motor is about $300 installed that how I came up with 15 month payback.

Anything that I'm over looking?

2 speed hi = 50 gpm so low would be about 25gpm
hi run time 6 hours so low would be 12 hours
electric cost .14 cents KWH.

Motor I'm looking at 12.4 amps high (cost $1.20 (6hrs) day)/ 2.2 amps low ($0.43 (12hrs) day) (monthly $35.94/$12.75) savings of $23.10

I would save the current motor for a backup or possible sell on eBay.

If you are going by the motor label ratings, then the cost may be a little high. The motor will usually draw less than the label ratings which are maximum limits. Plus, the power factor has to be taken into consideration.

I don't have any data on the P2RA5D-180L but I do for the similar PHK2RAY6D-101L which will use about 1114 watts @ 47 GPM on high and 280 watts @ 24 GPM on low speed for CEC Curve-A. So that would be $0.93/day for high speed and $0.47/day for low speed using the same run time.

I also would agree with Bama in that you tend to run at high speed for at least a couple of hours a day to help the skimmers.

The specifics for my setup:
Model PEA5D-180L/ Model P2RA5D-180L and I came about those models because I have C105-92PS/C1-216P impeller/diffuser.

I currently have a B2661 New Centurion 3/4 HP motor 11.2 SF AMPS 1.67 SF
and looking to replace it with a B2981 New Centurion dual speed motor 12.4/2.2 SF AMPS 1.67 SF motor.

@ Mas I'm using Pump tools v002. PE5C-180L is the pump I think is closest to mine.
