Hi,

Just bought my first home, and it has a pool. I've
been reading the forum and all of the valuable info attached.
Thanks so much the posters.

I've been testing with a K-2006 test for the past couple of days.

Yesterday's tests:
FC = 0
pH = 8.0
TA = 50
CH = 110 ppm
CYA = 0

So, i went out a bought the supplies I thought I would need (based on the great info on here)

I did screw up and bought 73% Cal Hypo instead of using bleach. Added 16 oz.
I also added a little muriatic acid. I ran the pump all night. Today I got the following:

FC = 4.4
CC = 0
pH = 7.8
TA = 50
CH = 110 ppm
CYA = 0

Now, I am trying to figure out what to adjust next. Add baking soda to get TA up to 100, then
acid to get the pH down to 7.5?

Add the calcium chloride to get the calcium hardness levels back up to 250?

Or, add the stabilizer (I bought solid) to get CYA up to 40.

Any help would be appreciated!!
THanks!

I have not been too active here for awhile, but figured I would jump in and say welcome and offer some info.

Is the water clear? If so ...

Definitely need to get the stabilizer in the pool ASAP ... otherwise the FC you do add will disappear to the sun very quickly and not be around to sanitize anything.

The Cal Hypo is ok for now as it will be adding calcium also, but keep an eye on your CH level.

You could instead use Dichlor to add both FC and CYA until the CYA is at a reasonable level ... but you have to get some CYA in there immediately to protect the FC.
