Using a 60" expandable liner

Hey everybody, look at this pool!
I just bought it to upgrade from my small 15 X 48 Intex frame pool, it's a 21' footer!

Here's the add from Craigslist:

{Pool for sale - 4' X 21' round Swim n' Play above ground pool, good condition. Asking $200.00 for pool with Hayward pump and filter, all in good working condition. We will also throw in remaining chlorine tablets, pool cover, leaf catcher, skimmer pole/attachment, and pool vacuum hose and attachments. You take down (we'll help you). Great deal. Now the work comes... going tomorrow to make it mine!
Even if I don't like the liner, they're cheap enough to replace if I what something prettier!
(I can buy an expandable 60" liner...)
The owner says he went to 5' in the middle.
It's a buried pool by about a 1 1/2' and by another foot on the back side under the deck for his sloping backyard.
Has anyone here used a 60" expandable liner for a 48" and made it all 60" deep?
I would like to bury it too, about 2'.

When using a a liner you want to use the shallowest measurement when choosing a liner. For example if the depth near the walls was 48" and the middle of the pool bowled to 52" you would order a 48" liner. The liner will stretch in place, if you order it the other way around you will have too much material and end up with wrinkles. You can dig your pool to basically any depth but keep in mind you can't dig too close near the walls as you will expose the metal rail that supports the pool walls. This is why when round pools are made deeper they usually have a shallow depth near the walls and then get deeper towards the middle.

OK, I got it...
What would you use for a gallon capacity # if I sloped it from the bottom of wall and went to 60" in the middle with let's say 8' in diameter at 60"?
Is there a cheap gallon counter on the market I could put on the hose when I fill it?
I suppose I could read the house meter as long as I fill it when nobody is home. :!:

Using an online calculator will give you an idea (although all the various new depths will make it harder to estimate). I would just read your meter as well, not worth buying some device that you'll use only once
