Should a float be used under a mesh cover ?

I am going to use a mesh cover this winter would you still use a float under it for a little extra freeze protection?

You don't normally use a float under a mesh cover. The typical routine is to keep it taught enough to stay above water until there is an ice surface to lower it down on, or a noticeable snow load builds up and you have to lower it anyway.

Thanks Jason i already had it on with no float and i thought that was the answer just wanted to make sure.
