Hello everyone! I am a total newb, and right about now feeling very overwhelmed. Bought a new home in the middle of the summer that has a pool and jacuzzi spa. I haven't been able to master "balancing" my water and am getting ready to close the pool, and open the spa. I'm a step by step kinda guy. Anyone able to walk an idiot through balacing and closing the pool and opening the spa? Any help is appreciated!!

I urge you to invest in a good test kit. It's really indispensable if you want a trouble-free pool (or spa). What constitutes a good test kit is discussed in an article in Pool School
