closing IG pool at shock level

in the sticky it's recommended to shock the pool 2-3 days before closing, let the levels drop half way back to normal and close it.

due to a timeline difficulties, i might not be able to follow that schedule and i was wondering if i can shock it immediately before closing? is there any danger of liner/cover damage due to high CL levels?

If that's the case just don't bring it all the way to shock level. Leave it a few ppm shy and close it.
