any problems converting a 3 phase pump to single phase?

we ordered a TriStar dual speed and they sent us a 3 phase. we might be able to find a converter on the island if not we have to fly it back to the U.S.

Would a converter work? and would the pump still save us electricity?

You loose efficiency through a phase converter. If it's their fault will they pay for shipping?

I think they will pay for shipping to FL but we will have to pay for shipping to the Bahamas. Also hopefully we won't have to pay any duty. customs duty is 45% on freight and shipping cost. duty doubles prices over here. its a hidden tax.

You'll lose a little efficiency in the conversion but those things are pretty efficient. Is the voltage the same?

Another thing to consider is the cost of the converter. You can either use a 3-phase motor or a VFD. VFDs are not cheap and they need to be programmed. Are you guys 50 or 60 hz?
