Order of operation

Currently I have equipment in the order:

POOL ---> PUMP ---> FILTER ---> HEATER ----> POOL .....

In wanting to add a SWG, where would one place it in this system (and why)? I assummed right AFTER the heater, but read somewhere that it should be placed "upstreaming" (I assume means prior to) from the heater.

SWG should be the last thing before the pool. Water comes out of the SWG with very high concentrations of chlorine that over time could mess up the plumbing of your other equipment.
