Plumbing - 1.5" vs 2"

I am in the end stages of PB selection and coming to the fine details. This is for an 18x36 mountain pond, about 25k gallons. One PB is using one skimmer and 1.5" plumbing with 1HP super pump. The other has standard 2" plumbing with two skimmers and a 2HP super pump. Both same pool? Either right or wrong?

2" plumbing will give you higher turnover, with higher turnover rates; which is better for filtration. Additionally, two skimmers gives you more debris removal. I would recommend the 2" setup. Here is a table you may find helpful, describing flow rates:

Disclosure: I have 1.5" plumbing with 1 skimmer; it's adequate, but I would prefer a 2" with 2 skimmer setup for the above named reasons.

PB compromise was two skimmers w/ 1.5" plumbing and 1HP hayward superpump. Will this be sufficient?

Any water features (fountains, waterfalls, etc) with the pool? 2 hp is much too big, unless you have a spa or a big waterfall. 2" is better, and there's no reason why any pool builder should resist it.

If you don't have any water features, I would suggest a 2-speed 1 hp pump.

Ditto...2" plumbing and any pump over 1HP is overkill, unless there are water features. The 2sp 1hp with 2"plumbing would allow for energy savings and an efficient set-up.
