rinse after backwashing?

i only backwash once a week...should i switch filter head to rinse after a backwash?

I would, it prevents a small amount of sand/stuff up in the valve, from the backwashing, from going back into the pool.

How many psi does your pressure rise in a week? Or do you just routinely backwash?

You only need to backwash when the pressure rises about 25% above the normal clean pressure. I wouldn't backwash every week unless it required it. And yes, you should rinse the filter a minute or two after a backwash.
