solar panels/pump sizing

OK Very new to this.We have a 1.5 hp pump and a vertical run of one story. Will I have enough pressure to get 2-2x20 panels filled and flowing??? Should it be hard piped with PVC and should the ball valve be installed before the bypass on the return side or after.

Your pump should be fine. Solar doesn't add near the load to the pump people think it does. Got to powermat.com to see good system diagrams and explanations. Hard or flex schedule 40 PVC is the way to go.

The elevation is only a factor in initially lifting the water, once the system is filled it has no impact. The only impact is the pressure loss from the length of piping and fittings. IF you drew a box (or a cube) around your pool and your house you would see that what you are doing is raising the water from maybe a foot below the pool surface and dumpng it back at the surface so your total lift is only about 1 foot.
