Adding Baking Soda.

I need to add some baking soda to my pool.
What I don't know is where/how to add it.

Do I just throw some into the pool and let it sink to the bottom?
Should I dissolve it first?
Do I put it into the intake/filter basket so that it can run through the filter and back out to the pool via the returns..?

Thanks!

Baking soda is very forgiving/flexible. You can add it any of several ways. It is good to be in the habit of pre-dissolving chemicals in a bucket of water and then pouring the bucket slowly in front of a return. However, with baking soda that isn't really required and you can just pour it slowly into a skimmer if you want.

Yeah, I usually prefer to dissolve things first, though some products note on the package to NOT dissolve them first.
I added maybe 2-3 pounds of pre-dissolved baking soda yesterday evening. Will check my alkalinity again today, hopefully it will help me to bring up my pH too, along with some more pH plus.

Thanks again.
