Pool cover for irregularly shaped pool

Every week I cut the grass around the pool and even though I use a basket to catch clippings, the trade winds, weed whacker and blower cause a large buildup of grass in the pool. It's almost more work skimming and vacuuming out clippings than it is to cut the grass.

I have a slide and a diving board and the pool shape is irregular (pregnant kidney) so not easy to install a normal cover for it.

Any ideas how to get something to cover it while I'm cutting the grass?

Maybe just a rectangular cover on a reel large enough to cover the whole pool. You could weigh down the edges with rocks while you mow.
