Cartridge filter cleaning question

This is our four summer with our pool. When the pb gave us our training, he said to clean the filter if the the pressure goes up 10 lbs. Never once has the pressure gone up more than 2 lbs. We have the pb close the pool in the fall and open it in the spring. They clean the filter when they close it.

I see ppl here discussing cleaning their filter often. Should I do it just to be sure? We don't have much trouble with the pool. Usually a slight algae bloom in mid-August that I attack with chlorine as so as I see it but that's about it. If I clean the filter will it help avoid the August bloom.

Consider yourself lucky. We cleaned ours up to twice a week during the messiest times of the year!

If your pressure's not rising then cleaning it at opening and closing is fine.
The best thing to prevent an algae bloom is to get a good test kit and read Pool School. And learn to take control of your pool.
