Help!

First....hi everyone! New pool owner and board member here. I have a quick question.....

I started up my intex SWG last night and this morning the hose that goes from the SWG to the pool is brown. What in the world is wrong?? I am in the process of trying to get the water right and have it tested today.

Do you have metals in your fill water?

Probably....it is city water and we have bad plumbing. Wouldn't the water and the hose going into the filter be brown also though?

When I was running a intex pool (12X30) last year and added the intex swcg, my outlet hose also went brown. I fill with a well that has metals.

What do I need to do? Wait until I test the water?

You can add sequestrant to see if it goes away.
What does the water look like?

The water is a little cloudy with a green tint to it.

Could be that you just need to shock. Can you post a set of test results?

Sorry for the delay in answering. I had to purchase a test strip kit to get me by until I can order a good kit.....Leslies' was out :?

Anyway....everything is pretty much registering 0. My salt test showed between 2000 and 3000.

I have the newest model Intex SWG and I haven't unplugged the copper ion generator assuming it has one. Do I need to? Which plug is it? The big or little one on the top?

Leslies' was out

tftestkits.com will have better kits for better prices. The TF-100 is the kit most of us here use, or the Taylor K2006. Both of these kits use the same reagents - the TF100 is a little better value.

I guess I should have been more clear....I went by a Leslies pool store locally. Guess it was a good thing they were out!

On the new units, there are three cords. Disconnect the last cord in the direction of flow (it is the closest connection to the outlet back to the pool). You unscrew the retaining ring then unplug the connector.
