Back From Vacation need to rebalance

Back from vacation and had a hose pop and drain the pool to the skimmer. Luckily neighbor was nice enough to check pool for me and shut it down and replaced the fitting in question that caused the hose to pop and refill. It was a tapered PVC fitting. Anyway before going I was BBB and shocked to 25 so I came home to a clear after 3 days of hot sun and no filtering. It has been sunny in the upper 90's here I expected the worst but am pleased. I had to go to pucks since I did not want to ask to much of neighbor

So back to BBB (all pucks are out of chlorinator)

FC 3.5
Comb 0
PH 7.3
Alk 80
CYA 85-90 ( I think I saw a spot at 85 but used 90 instead)
Hardness 200 (Is light blue considered blue?)


Should I bump PH to 7.4 and add Borax
Should I mess with Alkalinity at this time and take it to 100 with 47 oz baking soda?
Should I bump Hardness to 240? Where do you get Calcium Chloride, pool store?

I don't want to mess with to many things at once


So I need to bump my FC to 7 which is 73 oz of 6%

It all looks good but for the Fc level with your CYA at 90. See that chlorine/cya chart in pool school.

Agreeing with woody....raise your FC but leave everything else alone...it's just fine.

I assume your water is clear.

Yes, I asked him since he has a pool. Very nice indeed, water is clear, thankfully. I added lots of bleach (48 oz) will run numbers tomorrow.


Thanks, I just adjusted chlorine tonight.
