18 ft round x 4 foot high pool with 1 hp pump, sand filter. 1 skimmer and 1 return.
operation normal in filter mode and recirculate mode.
My vacuuming procedure is to attach vaccum head to pole, attach vaccum hose to vacuum head. put vacuum in pool. take free end of vacuum hose and hold it to return fitting until all air is blown out of vacuum hose, attach vacuum hose to small port in bottom of skimmer, postion skimmer cover inside skimmer to block flow such that only path is through vacuum/vacuum hose.
When executing this procedure the vacuum has suction for no more than three seconds and then there is no suction, no return flow, no water in pump.
What is going on? any troubleshooting suggestions?
