New to testing - TA apparently too high

When you lower your pH, it will come down some. Unless you have problems like scaling, I wouldn't be too afraid of it.

That said, your CH is high, so it's possible your TA might allow some scaling issues. You just really have to keep your pH in check.
 
Because CH is high, it would be best to work on lowering your TA to the recommended level. The easiest way to do that is to lower PH to 7.2 every time it gets to 7.8. With TA and CH where they are, you need to be careful to never allow PH to go over 7.8.
 
Not sure how often you "top off" ... I haven't been using a solar cover and my pool gets full sun, I'm topping off for about 2 hours (1" of fill) every 3 days or so. I mention this because my fill source has a TA of 250-260 :shock:

So, I advise that you TA test your refill source if you are refilling.
