We've just closed on our new home, a foreclosure, with a SWG pool. We have been doing a lot of reading and trying to learn as much as possible as we embark on this adventure, but now we are ready to get started. This site rocks, by the way. It has already been immensely helpful!
As advised in the "pool school" section, we purchased a recommended test kit, and here are our initial test results:
FC 0
PH: > 8
TA 350
TA 75
CYA 0
Salt 0
The pool water is fairly clear, but green. Algae, I presume. I will attempt to attach a picture.[attachment=0:eii8ghsl]pool.JPG[/attachment:eii8ghsl]
From what I have read, we need to shock the pool. I've read the "how to shock" section and my main question is about our lack of CYA (0). Is it best to add stabilizer before we shock?
