Good/Best place to buy sand for sand filter

I got mine at Leslie's... not sure if that was the best place or not. I think it was around $10 per bag, which I thought was a bit expensive.

Heard of Leslies, still not sure what it is. How big is the bag? I saw Lowes hardware has Special filter sand at $25/25 pounds, they also have play sand (probably not suitable for filters) at $2.49/50 pounds. Quite a large difference, just wondering what was "normal". thanks.

Typically, #20 silica sand for pool filters comes in 50 pound bags. Because of the weight, it's best to get it locally as shipping would otherwise cost more than the product. Its not like it's something you will buy often, maybe once in 10 years. Retail price is about $10/bag.

I discourage my customers from using sand substitutes like Eco-Glass or Zeolite.
