where do the water bettles/bugs come from? do they fly?

we get a couple a week and they are a pain

Elevating the chlorine level in the pool will usually get rid of them.

my pool went swampy for 6 weeks because im a noob. got it to go from green to cloudy in 5 hrs.
but in the meantime i pulled this huge water bug out. i do wonder where they come from. do they just crawl around in the dirt till they find as water source

I'm from Louisiana and they're prevalent in all water sources and I'd bet FL is same. Wonder if they can fly because I doubt it's a long trip.

If you happen to pull one out of the water and place it on your deck, your questions will be answered.

It is called a Boatman and yep, the lil buggars can fly.

If your chlorine is up, they wont like it and will move on to "Greener" Pastures so to speak.
