Water was sparkling clean before last night when a huge dust storm came in. Had to backwash filter this am, vacuumed & tested water.

Here are my #'s
CYA was 80 yesterday
FC was only 3ppm this am, suspect flow was reduced causing SWG not to work overnight

Added liquid chlorine to bring FC to 7ppm, just wanted to bring FC up right away. Now after vacuuming the water is still very cloudy. Question is, should I bring FC to shock level now or just wait & see what happens??

Shut the pump off overnight so any remaining dust can settle on the bottom then vacuum to waste. Don't try to filter all that dust out, you may end up loosing more water backwashing multiple times than vacuuming to waste once. After the dust is gone you can do an overnight test to see if you need to shock or not. You may want to check the cell and make sure there is no dust in there as well.

Makes sense as the dust does seem to be floating more than it was this morning. Thanks for the advise.
