Pressure in DE filter is up but no backwash.

Hi all,

I'm in the midst of clearing my green swamp and the DE filter's pressure
goes up intermittently so I have to backwash frequently.
Needless to say the pump works 24/7.
Suppose the pressure goes up by at least twenty and it's night time.
What can happen if the pump continues to work without backwash?

When you can't be there to tend the pool, run the filter on recirculate if that's an option. Filter when you can watch it.

It's old so it's primitive. Either normal circulation through the pool or backwash.

It depends on how long you can't be there. If it's overnight I'd let it run. It shouldn't damage the pump or filter because it's not going to completely stop the flow. If it's several days I'd shut it off and deal with it when I got back.
