When I add the r-0007 and r-0008 and the sample is supposed to turn green it turns red like it should after adding drops of r-0009. Am I right in assuming that means ta is pretty much 0?

Yes, if it turns red right away TA is zero and your PH is dangerously low. You should raise TA to at least 50 right away, give it an hour to mix in with the pump running, test PH, and adjust PH to at least 7.2 from where ever it is at that point.

I thought I had this all figured out, but I might be as lost as ever.

So 5kg of baking soda to add 43 TA(Per pool calc), then add a bunch of borax to bring the ph into range and add a little more ta?

Edit: I probably should have started a thread in another section, but this is here now...

Edit 2: Maybe this forum description does fit my question best...?
