Grace, TOO TRUE!! -- we've had folks go into ~ 40 deg water when the pool was 1/2 filled - just to be able to say "I was the first one in" or "I DID go in the year it was built" :lol:

Reasons to go swimming in Dec...

I live close to the equator... what is 'winter'?

There is no local branch of the Polar Bear Club near me, but I want to 'share' their experience

I put my bob-house on too early (for those of you who don't know what a bob-house is - it's a little heated shack on a sled or wheels that you tow out onto a frozen lake to ice fish out of -- you usually tow it out onto the lake with your truck, if the ice isn't thick enough, you end up swimming * and paying a BIG charge to get the truck and bobhouse out of the water-- and a $$$ fine for polluting the water)

(FWIW - I once came up with ~ 350 'Letterman-style' reasons to go to the restaurant I cooked at, all over the course of a weekend, many of them would never make it into the newspaper ad, but some that I thought couldn't, did)

the beach was to crowded.


my supply of 3 bottle of rum and coke so i decided to make ice and pool water.

i went on vacation to hawaii, WHAT YOU EXPECT ME NOT TO SWIM.

the devel made me do it

i wondered why penguins liked it so much

to test and see if fat was really a good way to keep you warm.
