Automatic cover problem?

Our new pool is almost finished and the team installed the automatic cover, which is not looking like I expected it to look. (See attached.)

The aluminum cover sticks up on the far left (I am thinking a lot of stubbed toes) and on the lipped edge (photo 1) you can clearly see it does not appear to fit right.

Anyone with experience with these shed any light on this?

Installer wants to cut cover to fit but I imagine that will look terrible and create jagged edge.

Any advice here?

He should be able to cut it and make it look just like the adjoining piece.

I found this picture from the manufacturer site that sort of implies the middle piece is upside down to me. Not sure I want that lip facing up though.

I am installing my pool right now, also with an auto cover, so I showed that pic to my supplier and he promptly stated it was the wrong cover for that application
