Underwater speakers

The Hard Rock Hotel in Vegas has underwater speakers and it is super cool. Any idea what these cost? I dunno if I honestly spend enough time underwater in my own pool though, most of the time I am in a raft., cause I have not figured out how to drink beer underwater. :)
 
i just have 4 bose 151 SE out there, 2 mounted on the corners of the outside of the sunroom , and 2 by the pool mounted facing the house, one at the deep and one at the shallow. , works great and if its loud enough (usallly when the police show up ) i can here it under water, one thing is can you here under water speakers above water? i have been to the hard rock in veges and its pretty cool, but i cant experement because they also have music out of the water.
 
I was the project Manager for the rebuild of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Biloxi MS.
We installed the underwater speakers in this one also.
I had assumed that it was a waste of time as the sound quality IMO would not be good.
I must admit that I was wrong.
The music does sound pretty good underwater.

Turns out that along with the surrounding music it’s a very nice feature.
 
under water speakers, ALONG with regular speakers is the way to get it to work, you cant just have under water ones. Why do they have to be do far under water?

Well I spoke with Bill, the tech guy at Clark Synthesis and he was willing to talk and helpful. He claims their speakers are being installed in quite a few high end resort pools around the country (mainly in Vegas and he mentioned a name in Mexico). Of course he is biased, but seemed willing to discuss their technology vs. the other guys. Claims they have the only full range speakers, and that most of the others sound good in the mid and high range, but very little base. They generaly sell direct and one speaker w/100' cord goes for $600. They install in a standard light niche.

The only info I could get on the Lubell 9484 was from quite a few google searches, I found at one of the online pool stores and had to call for a price. The phone salesperson wasn't familiar with the product and had to keep putting me on hold. Price ended up being $1992 each for a speaker w/50' cord -OR- $2081 for the speaker with an amp and transformer. I'm hoping that person is wrong and that is per pair, but I asked specifically and they said each. I've left a message with the manufacturer direct and have not gotten a return call yet.

I believe the speakers can be changed out the same way you would swap a light. Just wind up some extra cord in the niche and you can pull it to the surface for replacement.

I think I'm gonna try the aquasonics for $600.
 
my bose's were 250 a pair INSTALLED, they came out and ran the wires UNDER GROUND so its a tidy install, they wired them in to my home surround sound system, i have 4 bose speakers in every room, they are flush in the ceiling, its awsome for partys, when they came out they added a box that lets me choose the rooms i want and i can turn it off and go to home theatre room mode and have the 5 speakers in the den become a home theatre and STILL PLAY MUSIC OUT BY THE POOL. i have PERFECT SOUND all over my back yard and my house, 600 A PEICE IS A BIT MUCH
 
no im sorry, they make regular speakers, im just saying that 600 a piece is alot of mula, i like just having the sound out side and for 500 for 4 of them installed. i have a 1000 watt reciver for my den HT system, and an 10000 watt amplifier that has 36 bose speakers hooked up to it. i have 4 speakers in every room in the house. they look like this http://www.magma.fr/images/products/100 ... 401_zo.jpg
i have the curcle grates on, i have 36 of these INSIDE the house, 4 of these http://www.appliance.com/images2/bose_w.jpg , two just like the pic and 2 by the pool. I would never spend the money to do the inside system, but the house came with it. but i added the out door one and its the best thing i ever did, im a bose nut on the big boat we have 8 and on the little boat we have 4. they just sound so nice.
 
Sounds like a great system. I'm looking at installing these two so you can hear them underwater. I'm going to self-contract so I can afford to splurge alittle on some upgrades, since I won't have a PB gouging me for everything.

BTW, I'm in the process of upgrading all my TV and stereo equipment in the house too. Probably end up with a NAD receiver, not sure on speakers yet.
 
My daughter is a synchronized swimmer.
They use underwater speakers in syncho swimming all the time.
The club just plugs them into an amplifier and drops them into the public pool when they're using it.
