Hi all,
I have a Pantera P20 High rate sand filter. It says to use sand #20. The pool store said they don't sell sand anymore they gave me Natural Rock for filtration by distinction.

- Problem I can not get my pool water clear.
- I have new sand or rock- I have clean the filter made sure the plastic inside is not broke, have my water test (they say chemical good). The only thing that's clears the water is if I shut down the sand filter for a few days

- I've notice if I shut my sand filter 2-3 days then my pool water goes crystal clear

- Do I need I new Sand Filter?

Thanks

I found this, which is 'loosely' translated from French by Google Translate..it appears to be made by Excell Materials or Matériaux Excell depending on your choice of English or French.

"Sorelmix - Natural stone for filtration
Performance de filtration sans pareille ! Filtration performance unmatched!

The water quality is influenced by suspended particles, our natural stone filter has a filtration capacity of more effective and faster. With its semi-angle and size than other filtration media, the stone becomes a more efficient filtering media to trap particles in suspension.

This natural stone is chemically inert. It is a filter media manufactured from natural stone like granite. With its quality of being non-porous, its lifetime is extended.

I googled 'Sorelmix' and found this..mind you it may come in different grades, which just appear to be the size of the pieces...the overall composition I think is the same no matter what the grade.

SORELMIX
Sorelmix grade 16-60
Sorelmix is composed of a family of abrasive mineral by-products which are naturally recovered from the process of extracting and purifying ilmenite ore (FeTiO3). Sorelmix hard abrasive minerals consist mainly of anorthosite, hematite, spinel and other aluminosilicates. Sorelmix contains less than 0.1 % free silica. Sorelmix will efficiently clean and prepare metal and others surfaces to a wide range of specifications and will economically outperform the abrasive efficiency of coal slags, sand and other sandblasting abrasives available in the market. Sorelmix is non-hazardous and environmentally friendly to its surroundings.
