Sand Filter

Hi all,
I have a Pantera P20 High rate sand filter. It says to use sand #20. The pool store said they don't sell sand anymore they gave me Natural Rock for filtration by distinction.


- Problem I can not get my pool water clear.
- I have new sand or rock- I have clean the filter made sure the plastic inside is not broke, have my water test (they say chemical good). The only thing that's clears the water is if I shut down the sand filter for a few days

- I've notice if I shut my sand filter 2-3 days then my pool water goes crystal clear

- Do I need I new Sand Filter?

I don't find anything by that name. It sure sounds like the filter isn't filtering correctly.
What did the stuff look like?

I googled 'Sorelmix' and found this..mind you it may come in different grades, which just appear to be the size of the pieces...the overall composition I think is the same no matter what the grade.

The biggest problem I see is that Ilemite ore contains about 50 to 70% iron. If that gets dissolved into the water staining will occur.

Why did you replace the sand in the first place? Maybe you had filtering problems related to the filter, not the original sand.
