Is it ok for a person with a SWCG to run their system 24/7?

Currently using the BBB method but I think next year I am going to install a salt system - right now my pump runs 24/7 and I have no timer.

You'd be better off to run it at a higher ouput for either 8, 10 or 12 hours per day to save wear and tear and the life of the cell as long as it will maintain a good FC level.

The SWG doesn't care how long you run your pump, as long as it runs long enough for the SWG to produce enough chlorine, which is typically between 2 and 8 hours. More pump run time simply uses more electricity, but is fine with the SWG.

As woodyp said, you can almost certainly reduce your pump run time and save money and still be fine with the SWG.

I run my pump 24 hours per day. I have a Intellichlor 40 that runs at 10% fulltime with the pump so that means I run my SWG 2.4 hours / day and I have a FC level between 4 and 5 full-time. No problem.
