Equipment height above water level?

My new flood insurance does NOT cover my new pool equipment, and judging from past events, it will be underwater some in the next flood. I was thinking about raising it up by about 8 inches, so the pump & heater electronics stay dry in the event of a flood. Does it matter much how much higher above water level the equipment sits? Is this idea as simple to execute as it sounds, or do I need to worry about height above pool water level?

The higher the equipment is, the more difficult priming the pump will be. You should be able to be two or three feet above the water level without too much trouble, more than four feet gets very problematic.
