Stainless Steel filter equiptment and SWG

Hi,

We are investigating the use of a SWG system and happen to have a 25 year old yet rock solid PAC-FAB Stainless filter unit on our gunite pool. Checking with Hayward they would only say that using their system with a stainless filter was "Not recommended". The question is: is it because of possible corrosion concerns around the filter unit or a potential issue with the functionality of the SWG?? I don't believe that the small level of salt is an issue with a high quality filter unit compared with all the other pool chemicals that have been used??

Does anyone know whre I can find out the real facts around this subject.

Thanks greatly

what does the inside of the filter look like? If there are signs of corrosion, then the added salt will accelerate the corrosion. If it looks solid, then unless your electrial bond is broken somewhere, you should be fine with your Stainless Steel filter.
You can also attach a bonding lug onto the filter itself, and attach your bond wire to it. This will prevent damage due to an improper bonding grid.
