My pool has the skimmer and a deep inlet that goes to the pump and the a return jet in the shallow end and one in the deep end. I intermittently find that the deep end return is not flowing while the shallow end is. If I close the outlet from the filter, build up pressure, then release the valve, the deep end return begins to work again. Any thoughts as to my dilemma?

What's your filter pressure when it's not working. It sounds like a pluggage but it clearing when the pressure is high is strange.

My pressure is usually around 12. Next time the return stops I'll try plugging the shallow end to see what happens.
Try having someone hold their hand over the shallow end return and see if the deep end return starts pushing harder (hint* - I'm thinking they are plumbed in 'series')
