I suggest you get your CYA level to the recommended 30-50 range. You are wasting money on chlorine until you get the CYA right. I wouldn't worry about the other levels in your pool until you get the algae under control. You need to keep the FC at shock level constantly. Need to check FC levels hourly and add more chlorine if it's dropped below shock level. Not until the FC level drops less than 1 ppm overnight do you have the algae under control. IF you CYA level is only 10, the chlorine can burn off in less than an hour during daylight even without algae. Hope this is helpful

Assuming the CYA test # was correct, increasing the CYA to about 30 for shocking would be helpful.
I would not increase it to the 50 range until you are completely done shocking.

Higher CYA = higher shock level = more bleach/liquid chlorine = more $ to shock.

So, what's going on with the pool? Got an update for us?
