We just acid washed and are in the process of refilling our olympic sized Gunite pool with fresh water. What is the best way to make sure we stabilize the chemicals properly and prevent algae ect... We have a cartage filter system and a chlorinator. They were washed and cleaned throughly.

What he said.

If you know pH is too high coming out the hose, you can start adding acid as it fills. If you're halfway full, figure out the dose for half your volume and pour it in the hose stream. When you get about 3/4, test the water and add some more.

If it's municipal water, there's going to be some chlorine in there, and no algae spores, so you should have a couple days grace period before you need to worry about it turning green. Use the time wisely; the faster it's balanced, the faster you can use it!

Algaecide is not generally recommended here except for winterizing. But it's your pool. If you do add some, be sure it doesn't have any metals in it. I seem to remember Poly 60 is the one mentioned here as the one to use.

Have you ran any water tests yet? The faster you get pH adjusted, add some stabilizer, and get some chlorine in there, the better. Fine tuning can wait. Remember, chlorine is a consumable, meaning add every day. Stabilizer will take a few days to register, so don't overdose. It's easy to add more, hard to remove.
