Where is the best place to buy a new filter pump motor?

My 1.5 hp Hayward (A.O. Smith) just died it's second death. I rebuilt it with new bearings after it died the first time from an impeller seal failure.

I want to replace with new this time, and cannot yet stomach the pool store prices. They don't even know how to sell the motor separate from the pump.

Any ideas?

I've used about every brand there is and while I like A.O.Smith there's nothing wrong with Marathon.

Take a look on Ebay. AO Smith has replacement pumps on there and you can usually find a full set up at below store prices. I just replaced my 3/4hp Hayward pump with a Hayward Super II 2 speed pump for $200.

In case anyone is interested:

I found a direct replacement by WEG.
Local distributor (ATL) and brand new for 150.00.
Bolted right up and running very quietly.
