My hayward xstream recently started sucking in air. I just put in a new cartridge but I don't think this should have caused the problem. I can't figure out where the air is coming from. I have filled my pool to the top and no air is coming in through the basket but yet there are alot of bubbles in the clear top in the the pump. I am constantly having to release the air through the air flow valve. I am afraid to leave the pump running when I am gone. Any suggestions.

The most common places for the system to get air in is the skimmer, strainer basket lid, drain plugs.

Make sure the weir is working correctly and not sticking.
Remove the pump strainer basket lid and clean and lube the o-ring with pool lube.
Check the drain plugs on the pump.

You can run a water hose over the suction piping and look for bubbles in the basket while doing it. If the bubbles stop you've found your leak.
