pH creeping up

It is usually high TA, ie using too much baking soda, that causes PH to rise. Lowering TA will usually take care of it, unless you have a really large amount of aeration (large waterfall or negative edge).

So if you want, you can let the TA drop a little more which it will do with your acid additions (i.e. don't raise the TA back up with any baking soda). If the amount of acid you need to add gets less and the rate of pH rise seems to slow down, then you can stay at the lower TA level if you want. Just so you know, half a gallon of acid every 2 weeks, which is 4 cups a week, isn't a lot for a 30,000 gallon pool, but if you're able to lower that by having the TA lower, then that's certainly fine to try. Let us know how it goes.
