I have a single speed motor - Specs:

AO Smith Centurion 1.5hp
Threaded Shaft
Square Flange 56Y
SF 1.5
fr y56y
hp 1.5
volts 230

I want to change it to 2 speed. Would the Emerson SQH15FL2 be a direct fit?
1.5hp
230V
1.50hp
56Y frame

Pricing seems to be $200, which is great!

Understood I would also have to replace my old Instamatic timer with a 2-spd timer

Am I missing anything? Suggestions? This should be plug-n-play, correct?
Understood I'll need a new pump seal - already on hand.

I cant help with the fit of your pump but I did see a spot on the local news that our power utility is offering big rebates if you switch to a 2 speed pool pump. Maybe you can find the same type of thing in your area. Good luck :goodjob: .

What kind of AZ rebates are we talking about? I did a quick search and found this:

http://www.aps.com/main/green/choice/choice_109.html

$200 rebate for variable
$100 rebate for 2-speed

That match what you saw?

ETA: I now see that APS is a utility company ... not in Tucson. Oh well, have to check out locally.
