vinyl to fiberglass?

My boss' pool is looking great! The liner patches are holding nicely, and the numbers are spot-on, except we are still upping the CYA. The liner itself has seen WAY better days, and he is going to redo things before next summer.

Question: Anyone ever heard of going from vinyl to fiberglass, as in some sort of application they will fabricate on-site, for a cost of about $15-18K?

Basically what they do is make a liner by fiberglassing the inside of the pool. I would assume it holds up as well or better than a native fiberglass or liner pool but that all depends on how good a job they do applying it.
